It’s a good idea to get a safe that doesn’t just provide protection from the fire and dust, but also from theft. Good quality safes will have a mix of mechanical and electrical locking systems that are resistant to EMP and are difficult to bypass. These locks provide the best level of security and will keep your important data out of the hands of unauthorized individuals.
5. Impact resistance
Some fire safes provide adequate fire protection and have good locking mechanisms, but they don’t provide enough impact protection. It’s a good idea to buy a safe that has undergone fire endurance testing and doesn’t become damaged or explode on intense impact. For example, some safes can withstand a 30ft drop after being exposed to 2000°F heat for 30 minutes. These safes offer the highest level of protection to your data.
